Tab 'Rooms' (adding rooms to a location)

Modified on Wed, 4 Oct, 2023 at 3:52 PM

Once you have created a location, after filling in the general information, you can start adding the rooms. Rooms include both bedrooms, and generic rooms. We will start by creating bedrooms.

You add bedrooms by clicking on the plus sign behind the heading bedrooms. When you click on the plus, a field appears with a bedroom, This is structured as follows:

  • Bedroom name: by default it is called 'Room ...' (in this case 1, because it is the first bedroom added. Do you add another one? Then this room is called 2!). You can change the name of the bedroom as you wish
  • Number of beds: this is set to 1 by default. You can change this if you wish. The total number of beds in each bedroom adds up to the total capacity of the house. The capacity is also shown at the top of this page
  • For couples: This button is particularly important if you use the Location planning in SIMA. If you indicate here that a bedroom is specifically for couples, then you can filter on this as well. Then you know that couples can be placed in it.
  • Room blocked period: you can use this button if you want to block a bedroom (for a specific period). Are there 8 bedrooms in a house but one of them is occupied by internal staff for example? Or is a room temporarily uninhabitable due to an infestation/circumstances? Then you can block it. This is also shown in the location planning, so employees know that no people can be scheduled in here.
  • Inventory: here you select an inventory list appropriate for the room in question. You can read more about this in the section on Inventory. For example, the generic list bedroom always consists of some basic items that could be in your bedroom by default. With the +/- buttons you can indicate how much of each item is present. Are you missing an item in the list? Then click on add item; here you can add items from the inventory module! You can also read more about this in the section on Inventory.

Once you have gone through the above steps for each bedroom, then you can start adding generic rooms. Generic rooms are rooms like living rooms, bathrooms, but they can also include the garden or the meter cupboard. You create a generic room by clicking the create a generic space button.

Then you get an overview where you can name the generic space, and also add an appropriate inventory list and items to it.

You can create as many generic spaces as you want; just click the create a generic space button again, and a new empty space will appear!
